Artist's Musings:
Sue Dickinson studied B A (Fine Arts) at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg from 1981 - 1983. She has been painting full-time since 1994, becoming an Associate Member of the Watercolour Society of South Africa (AWSSA) in 1995.
She has exhibited her work in South Africa at the Everard Read Gallery in Johannesburg and Cape Town, the Zonah Boshof Gallery and African Window Gallery in Pretoria and has taken part in many group exhibitions.
Sue's work appears on several South African postage stamps, including airmail tags commemorating the discovery of Thulamela, the world-famous archaeological site in the Kruger National Park. In 1998, another set of Sue's paintings, depicting "Early South African History" appeared on postage stamps, postcards and in a prestige booklet.
In 1999, Sue was commissioned to paint a miniature sheet celebrating The Order of St John's 900th Anniversary, which included a portrait of President Nelson Mandela.
Her work is in private and corporate collections in South Africa, England, Germany, Italy, France, USA, Hong Kong, Brazil and Australia. She works in all mediums, exploring diverse themes and means of representation.
